On the road again to Glastonbury
June 2016
After a successuul debut at Glastonbury in 2016 we are off again to the muddy fields of Glastonbury Festival to proudly represent Somerset Federation WI and serve WI homemade cakes in the Green Futures Fields at Glastonbury. Again with a variety of cakes to tempt you along with a proper mug of tea (in a real mug)

There is much emphasis on the fun activities that the WI get up to and to promote this to a younger audience. We had such great publicity last year and generated new memberships. We met many fellow WI members and a few famous faces. Chris Evans, Alex Jones, Gemma Kerney and Natalie Bennett were some of the lucky people who tasted the delicious cakes on offer. We appeared in local and national press, television and radio. We felt like superstars and that went a long way in spurring us on during some very difficult days. Lack of sleep and aching limbs were all part of the experience and was all forgoten once we opened up each morning to Jerusalem. This often brought a crowd who joined in.
How can I get involved?
The team is getting ready to hit the road again and wow festival goers with WI homebaked cakes and a proper tea.
WI's accross somerset are preparing to bake and be part of the story.

If you are a WI Member and would like to bake for Glastonbury please contact Katie Newell who can advise on your closest collection points and times and send you further details.
